I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place.

    Hi
My laptop has been working fine, and the screen was fine. Today, though, after updating, the screen went really bright, and I can't read some things. Its an Inspiron 1521, Vista Home Premium. Please, could someone help me to change the brightness, and not the function button and down arrow, that isn't making a difference.

    Thanks

    was it a driver update

might be some setting in the software that comes with the graphics driver

have you tried restoring the laptop to an earlier date

if you press f8 just before windows starts to load, then go into safemode, or maybe into safe mode with vga graphics option

then try system restore in there
