    Just wondering,
Do Eircom/ESB have planning exemptions for the installation of street pole?

Or do they have exemptions up to a certain height?

    any ideas?

There are exemptions but with conditions much the same as building an extension to your house.

If its a "street pole" as you describe it then it will be exempted develpment for the standard heights. Eircom dont erect poles any more AFAIK. All their cabling is now underground in towns in villages (the new stuff anyhow). The same now mostly applies to the ESB power lines.

ESB lights are a wee bit different in that the local council are responsible for the ducting and base support and they then place an order with the ESB for the lights. If the lights are in a private residential development then its the developer who is responsible for them and this would have formed part of his planning application.

Thanks. But lets say they were to erect a pole with no cabling? What exactly are the exemptions do you know or do you have a link to some information?
