Who stands out for you this year?

Casey Affleck (The Assassination of Jesse James)
Brad Pitt (The Assassination Jesse James)
    John Cusack (1408)

Can't remember what else I've seen during the year. Will add to it later.

Casey Affleck in Assassination of Jesse James was my fave performance of the year, I never knew Afflecks had such talent

Does voice talent count? I was blown away by Peter O'Toole's turn as Anton Ego in Ratatouille. Between the voice, the look, and the over the top evil-ness he is easily my favourite animated character ever.

Matt Damon was very impressive as Bourne. No great shock - he was great in the predecessors.

The most memorable performance of the year (although crazily over the top) was Gerard Butler as Leonidas in 300. THIS. IS. SPARTA!!!

We'll be doing the Film Awards soon, where you'll all get to vote on a definite outcome, so this thread is a little pointless untill then.
