Shannon Airport - Geeky Q

Was looking at some pictures recently that were taken in Shannon in the 80s-early 90s, and they seemed to have "wrong way round" airbridges.

99% of the time passenger boarding is done via the doors on the left of the aircraft. Just wondering if my eyes deceived me, or if they actually did exist. If they did, why? :)

Air Bridges that are there now are there that long. And they were never backwards!

haha I see what you're thinking here.

They are not using the airbridge at all there. Thats stand 31 I think. Stairs to the 2L door ;)

I wonder will we ever see the day when we will see two aer lingus aircraft on the ground at Shannon at the same time....!

However I would like to know how this happened!

Looks like they used the 2R for airbridge on the 747 here.....

    Cool photos!

How is Shannon doing now? I remember reading last year that its finances were in none too good a shape, will Aer Lingus pulling out hurt it badly as well as there no longer being the need for interntational flights to the US stopping there?

Definitely! Loving the old white shamrock livery, reminds me of the good ol' days of Aer Lingus :)
