just received my new imac 24" and opened her up to have a play. Noticed condensation down the back of the screen and on the stand.

I guess I should let it settle into it's new environment before switching it on. Any idea how long to wait? anybody else notice this before.

It came from Shanghai, shipped 3rd - delivered 10th using TNT, pretty decent delivery times.

It's cold from being in the back of the delivery van - I'd let it warm up a while before powering up, if the moisture is heavy enough to look like it could be joining up on the legs of the chips on the logic board, etc.

If it is very light (more a lack of shine, rather than a load of shiny drops) then it should be ok.

When i got my imac last year i let it settle for 6 hours before i plugged it in.

In fact if you ever buy anything you should always let it settle. I was told by an electrician that if people ( when they bought fridges, washing machines and so on.... ) let their new stuff settle ( fridges 24 hours) the stuff would/should never give trouble in its lifetime.

So look at it this way, your computer is after getting the living daylights shook out of it for the past 10 days, it needs time to settle down. Imagine it was you in that box, how would you feel after 10 days. These things need time to settle believe it or not.
