Not getting anything with the DTT trial...

Hi. I'm new to the forums. I bought a digital receiver in Newry. I live in Balbriggan. My TV ariel is a digital one on the roof. Signal confirmed by the installer last week. However, when the Goodmans box scans Ch 54 (Three Rock), it comes back with no TV station available.

I would be obliged if somebody could tell me where I can buy a receiver that will work and suggest an brand/model.

    Many thanks in advance.

    KP.

    Hi folks,
After spending a good bit of time reading in here about the DTT trials, I signed up to become part of them, and then today I collected my set top box and viewing card. I was told that they did'nt have any antenna left, so on my way home I picked one up in Maplins. The antenna I bought is a One For All indoor digital aerial, model no. sv 9320. The reason I'm telling you all this is that I can't get anything on the box, and I'm wondering is it the aerial I bought! When I do a manual search for channels, it cant find anything, but the signal indicator is at about 60%, and the strenght indicator is at 0.
Would anyone know where I'm going wrong?
    Cheers,
    Dave.

Have you the card aligned right way up in conax module, also use top module holder.

Hi Stanley, I'm assuming the printed side of the card faces up and the chipped side down, with the chip end inserted first into the conax module?

DTT channel numbers for Dublin are 54, 58, 61, 64. (Not 100% sure on these, can somebody confirm this?).

Mayo Exile, you would'nt happen to know what frequencies to put in when doing a manual search with those channel numbers?

Sorry technical knowledge is limited, but if you read the "DTT reception reports" thread above the frequencies I think, are offset with ch. 54 corresponding to 738 Mhz. I dont know the others.

The frequency with offset is 737833 and for moving the antenna around for the best reception one frequency is enough. If the aerial is working also the automatic scan is working.

Okay then, I'm starting to get somewhere! I managed to tune in RTE 1 and 2, TV3 and TG4 and 8 radio stations with the auto scan. How do I go about getting the other channels that are supposed to be available?

Your indoor aerial is maybe not good enough for your location.
Open the menu with the signal strength and move the aerial around until you get the best reception. A window in direction to the transmitter is maybe not bad.

Maxg, I was thinking that meself, as the signal is'nt really the best at the moment. I'll play around with it again tomorrow and will report back with how I get on!
    Cheers,
    Dave.
