Wii (and DS) Demos

OK so anyone who has owed any other games console or PC in the last decade (and further back) rather than one produced by Nintendo will know the joy(?) of demo discs. You were able to make a decision based on (shock, horror) actually playing a bit of the game as opposed to a (biased?) review.

Now that Nintendo have finally moved to a (relatively) non proprietary media (as opposed to carts or 8cm discs) and the launch of a DS demo channel on the Wii in Japan is it time we saw magazines with demo discs for the Wii which could also include DS demos which could be downloaded to the DS?

I know I was persuaded by a lot of demos on my old Amiga and PS1/2 to buy games that I was unsure of (I'm pretty sure I would not have bought Cannon Fodder and the original Grand Theft Auto if not for playing the demos at least). Nintendo have had valid reasons up till now but I think it is high time we got to play the games before buying. I know most places will let you bring a game back and swap for credit but should we have to do that?

The age of demos sellotaped to magazines is coming to an end - if anything we'll see downloadable Wii demos IMO.

That said, I'm not sure when that will happen, probably not in the immediate future.

Looking forward to seeing the DS demo channel roll out in Europe - also looking forward to greater DS/Wii cross functionality.

Where would you download them to though? The internal flash isn't really big enough.
