My sister travelled to Kilkenny yesterday to attend the wedding of a female work collegue, The bride was 20 minutes late, the groom never arrived !!
Lots of money spent here, house bought, the bride and groom met the afternoon before the nuptials to finalise everything..all hunky dory, next day he leggs it off somewhere on a ryanair flight, saying he is not ready. Would not like to be him when he finally returns to face the music.....****in hell, he had months/years to pull out, but decided to do it in style. :)

So flying Ryanair is considered doing it in style now, is it?

I wouldn't marry a woman who was late for her own wedding either.

Exactly Pigman, that kind of tardiness shows a lack of interest. I bet her domestic duties were also quite lax. No, not marriage material there.

Maybe he arrived on time, and after 19 minutes thought "sod this for a game of toy soldiers, ya comin to the bar lads?"

HE probably has a 10 minute rule. I'd say he gave her 10% for free then thought "**** her" .

Did they all at least go to the reception?

Not to mention her dad, if that old tradition of dad paying for the wedding still exists. Damn deposits.

Hence why gender selecting IVF is so popular in Cavan.

i dunno, divorces are common enough nowadays.. can't be that much hassle. and if they'd already bought a house together, it does sound like it was just a case of nerves and stupidity.

What an asshole. It's not as if Marriages mean anything these days. Putting your name on a mortgage needs more commitment.

tell that to those who go through divorces!

so you think he should have married then?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,813 ✭✭✭themadchef

How awful for that poor woman! But i'm thinking better than getting into a marriage that he obviously wasin't ready for. Ok, house financial commitments etc, but alot easier to chop up if not married.

Crazy ass way to do it though, lacks respect and consideration. So much time and so many opportunities and yet he had to choose that way. So sad for her, hope she's ok after it.

Yeah.. see the problem happens when I own my own property and then get married... then lose half my **** for no reason whatsoever if it comes to divorce time. Ya feelin' me dollface?

Yeah, I suppose they don't make divorces easy, with good reason.

I think he shouldn't have waited 'til his wedding day to bottle out.
It's not fair to all those people who got dressud up for the day, expecting a nice meal and a party :)

Exactly. And if by some chance you became ridiculously rich, you'd have to give her half of all of that too.

Though, with pre-nups this can be prevented, right?

Anyway, the poor guy must have been really stressed out about it if he actually fled the country to avoid it, but it's put him in a horrible situation as when he gets back he'll have an even more stressful situation to deal with when he gets back.

No needs for the name calling, I'm sure she had a reasonable excuse for her tardiness.

    'Tis For The Win alright.

On the subject of pre-nups, if a man turned around to his wife-to-be and said he wanted to get one drawn up to the effect that she'd get nothing of his should the relationship go downhill, what kind of reaction should he expect?

yeah pre - nups aren't legal in ireland... **** one!!

    what a waste of money!!

Funnily enough it'd actually work in her favour as she's way better off than me!

But it does look odd when people ask for pre-nup agreements, but at the end of the day it's understandable.

Picked a funny place to do the jilting!!!

Why did they need their clothes altered anyway.

Least it didn't happen at the altar, that would have been the pits.

jeebus, the must have been signs that it was going to happen. Perhaps he was going to meet a man from Nigeria about a few million he had recently won in the n'jubu realm sweepstakes. Building a better life ftw!

At least he saved her the embarrassment of walking up the aisle and then getting told "no" at the alter during the vows.

Don't need a passport to get on a Ryanair flight out of Ireland, so you'll be needing to collect up all forms of photo id just to be sure.

Where as if he had turned up on the day and gone through with it then rather than just having the one day of tears you'd probably have then been stuck together for years probably making each others lives hell.
