Opensource software for a TV Card

I've managed to get my hands on a TV card and I've almost got it working with windows media centre.

I've been told (and I'm finding out fast) that Media centre wont pick up the channels from the analogue cable very well and that I'd be better off with different software.

Can anyone recommend some open source software that will scan the analogue cable thats going into the card, (NTL), and let me watch all of the channels?

    Thanks!
