Need help in getting basic dance moves down for the xmas party season.

Anyone got pointers or links to you tube vids that show you how not
to look like a dork on the floor?

Here is the kind of thing I need to avoid:

TBH, the way not to look like a dork is to avoid any dance "moves". Unless you can successfully pop and/or lock (tutting and fluiding optional), in which case you wouldn't have created this thread, stick to the basics (i.e. move to the music).

Just stay well clear of the dancefloor....nothing is cringier than dodgy dance moves.
If you HAVE to dance then just move from side to side, keep it simple

I dont get how guys always claim they can't dance...girls can't dance either they just move! Dancing with steps and stuff belongs in competitions not in the clubs! Just go out there and move to the music however you want. if someone criticises you because you "can't dance" then screw them!

At least you wanna get down there and dance, best place to be cos a. you're not hammered (girls dont really go for that) and b. youre not skulking in the corner looking "mysterious".

Basically there are so many ppl on dancefloors that unless youre completely awful or trying to get attention (and then being completely awful), no-one will notice anything out of place. Try not to "dance up" to people or use your hands and fingers too much and just be yourself. I know be yourself is such a cliche but just go down there, dont be too cheesy and youll be fine

I WISH my boyfriend would dance with me, even though he's lanky and uncoordinated! So good for you!
You just have to dance a lot and get into it to get good at dancing. Usually for the first two or three songs when I'm out, I'm still a bit stiff and uncomfortable but then I loosen up,forget about everything, stop thinking about it and start to feel like I'm in the music- that's when it starts to look good. Ah I love dancing.

Thread moved from FAP - no specific dancing forum on boards?

It's so true what Will says in the above clip - that women equate dancing with sex. well,
maybe not sex exactly, but certianly "sexiness"

I mean, I don't know any woman in this country in their 20-30's who don't go weak
at the knees for Patrick Swayze in "Dirty Dancing".

I even own a copy myself! Nobody leaves Baby in the corner! Swoon!

    Just do this

Except instead of a cigarette, use a drink.

Don't worry about it too much though, Christmas parties generally have sh1te cheesy music so just do whatever everyone else is doing.
