I was browsing as one does on these here boards yesternight, and was surprised to see that there is a possibility to use a monitor with my PS3. Now, they said something about HDMI to DVI, so i looked uop what DVI connections are like, and i apparently have a DVI-D Dual-link (Single Only)connection on the back of this here lappytop. It's a Dell XPS M1710, and the connetion looks like the 2nd last one in this here piccy.

So, what i was wonderin was this... Can i hook my PS3 up to my laptop to use the monitor as my, well, tv... And is my laptop HD? I don't really know what constitutes HD in a laptop monitor... As per the tech specs, it's a "17" Wide-Aspect UltraSharpTM TFT Active Matrix WUXGA (1920x1200) display with TrueLifeTM . "

I don't think you can. Generally those connections on the laptop are for output only so that you can display what's on your laptop to an external monitor/projector/tv. They won't work as input. The only time I've seen a laptop to be able to accept an external source is from those one's with s-video tv capture from the gfx card.

Vortexx is right. The connection you have is for hooking up a second monitor to your laptop. It will not allow you to use your laptop screen as a monitor.
