Vodafone data charges for ISP internet - options?

    I have just been hit by a bill of €355 compared to the usual €70 or so. The reason? Well I changed my phone last month and it has been accessing the net on the isp.vodafone.ie setting!

    One call - 4.33MB = €18.1835 :eek: I have not tried to add up the total amount of data but it is not a huge amount, this example is the largest.

    I would not have reached 10MB in any single day!

    Having looked at their web site I saw to 99c a day deal but I did not see the "live" only condition!

    We’ve got a new flat pricing structure for Mobile Internet – pay daily or monthly, depending on how often you go online.

    If you're a Pay Monthly customer:
    You pay daily as you use the service. You are only charged on days that you use the service. That's 99c for the 50MB daily allowance and 0.5c per KB thereafter. You can also buy a 500MB monthly Add On for just €9.99

    No mention of "live" only there!

    What is their charge for using the ISP setting? I can't find in on their site. Is there any add on I can get to use with the ISP setting? I want to access email and ftp servers.

    Is there anything I can do about this bill? (other than pay it)

    hi, yeah they currenlty have two general ISP data bundles:
    'Modest': 15MB €10 (€2.50 per MB over allocation)
    'Medium': 25MB €15 (€2.00 per MB over allocation)

    I'd suggest you prepare yourself and call explaining the situation, they may be sympathetic. Don't be shy to escelate it if you get no joy, but be nice and things may work out. If you are getting no joy at all, as a last resort rather than being lumbered with a massive bill perhaps suggest they retrospectively apply one of the ISP bundles as a compromise...

    They have that info well hidden! I intended to give them a call about it but was not overly hopeful of a reduction on the bill!

    I doubt I came near 25MB over the month so to see them offering it for €15 in a bundle and me being charged approximately €260 is quite sickening! :mad:
