Listed on www.ratemygolfcourse.ie are all of the known golf courses in Ireland with reviews posted by visiting golfers. Hope you have seen this site and certainly be glad to hear if any courses are missing or if you've played any and maybe post a review of the course.

I came across this site the other day and thought it was a good idea. I couldn't find too many detailed reviews, but i guess this will come with time.

I think it could be a very useful resource for people playing courses for the first time. I might even submit a few reviews myself.

The ratings are totally unbalanced. If a viewer were to plan his/her golf trip based on those they'd miss out on many of the best courses.

    Henry
It would be a good ides to suggest your best courses, its better to be part of the solution and not the problem

Is it just me or does the website not work at all? Won't allow me to submit a review/rating.

I'm not too enamoured by the fact that Leinster seems to have swallowed Monaghan and Cavan in its location map.

Lisburn is at no. 4. Not a bad course but won't be in the top 20 or so courses in Ireland. Looks like the site needs more reviews so I'd better get cracking.

Just looked at the site. There are a lot of problems......I tried three courses and I couldn't complete the review (the validation code couldn't be seen). Needs more work.......

The site rankings are just so far removed from reality.

For example I play in Lahinch, which Golf Magazine (an internationally respected publication) rates #2 in Ireland, #12 in GB & I, and #42 in the world.

The website ranks it 57th in Ireland.

    Hi Henry,
There is absolutely no arguement about the quality of Lahinch as a world class course and the Reviewers on the site agree with you but, based on the "Value for Money" criterion used to rank courses its come in at 57 as per the votes of the Reviewers!!

Does any body know if Vartry Lakes Golf Club is definitely closed? Thanks

Adare Manor Golf resort rated at 152nd.

    WTF ????

If it's good enough for Padraig to win the Irish Open on it has to be better than 152nd surely:confused:

Users of Internet Explorer were not seeing the pages correctly that should be all sorted now and submitting reviews and reading the ones posted should be ok.
Hopefully CH3 will post some reviews on his favourite courses, its the way the ratings work, but thanks for the comments here.

A good site but it needs a lot more reviews in order to be accurate.
Re Adare, there are two courses there which cause confusion. The big one is Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort, which in my opinion is the best parkland course in Ireland.
Killarney has 3 courses Mahonys and Killen are excellent and Lackabane is definitely the weak one.
Why not try out 4 of the best courses in Kerry by entering Kerry Golf classic in May. See www.kerrygolfclassic.com for details

Thanks Krutt got the reviews and posted them. If you need the comp. placed in the news section as well that is still open to you.

    Ratem,
I would really appreciate it if you could place the Kerry Golf Classic details in the news section, that would be great.
    Thanks for your help

It's an interesting read but I wouldn't take it too seriously.

In such a lucrative industry as regards green fees, and with members' pride involved, there seems to be a good few slightly suspect reviews.

My course did quite well at 33rd but if I had have went on and seen bad reviews I would've been tempted to go on and post a really good one and even things up... it's human nature and there's no way it doesn't go on on this site.

Out of the top ten I have played Kinsale Farrangalway, Ouchterard, Lisburn and Druids Glen.

I can safely say I had a good thorough look at Kinsale F and Lisburn having played them each 3 days in a row in munster and ulster youths a few years back. Both great courses, Lisburn probably a good bit better but neither are in the same class as Druids Glen, Adare Manor, K Club etc.

Anyway, I think it's a great site but you're not gonna get accuracy even with the subjective nature of the topic.

Think you are talking about Killeen Castle which is in Dunshaughlin. Don't think it is open yet but will host the Solheim Cup in 2011. It is a Nicklaus design.

    Details here http://www.killeencastle.com/

Thanks Scout353 had a look at the link you included and I think this is the one. The info I got was that it was called something like Dunshaug but looking at the link for Killeen Castle it is near Dunsany which is probably what was being referred to.
Will keep an eye on it for inclusion on the website.

Many thanks to Sean and John for submiting a whole raft of reviews for various courses. They've obviously been very busy out there enjoying themselves. Great to read of your experiences good and otherwise.
We'll be passing on the comments to the clubs in due course.
