Was anyone else unfortunate enough to be stuck in Heathrow or any other London airport at xmas last year?

Madness, ive never seen chaos like it with all domestic flights cancelled, and international flights severaly disrupted due to the severe weather, i was quite fortunate to make it myself but im hoping nothing like this ever happens again, but what i have read somewhere a while back is that baggage handlers or other staff in some London airports were threatening strike over the xmas period, has anyone else heard anything about this?

I'm going to be travelling into London then onto Dubai the following day close to xmas and obviously i don't want to experience any delays or worse still cancelations, does anyone ehre work in a London airport or anyone with any information that might be useful?

    Cheers

Keep a close eye on the BAA (Heathrow) website as there's plans for strike action over the Christmas period. BAA staff currently being balloted. Also, if you're travelling with Virgin Atlantic they're on the verge of a strike too.

I'm travelling LGW-DUB on 24th and DUB-LGW on the 26th, here's hoping everything will go smoothly.

The BAA workers are being balloted at the moment and the ballot closes on the 20th Dec. The earliest they can strike is the 27th Dec and the talk is that that is when they will strike to cause the most disruption. The strike is over the pension scheme being changed to a contributory rather than final salary scheme for new employees. I don't know how strongly most of the existing workers will feel about this - strike = no pay and Christmas is an expensive time of year. We better keep our fingers crossed it will be resolved. I'm particularly anxious as am going to the UK on the 20th and spending Christmas with the mother in law , then we are meant to be flying out of Heathrow on the 27th to spend Christmas with my family in a hotel in Galway , I'll be gutted if miss that!!!!!

Should be fine I'd say. Are you going with Aer Lingus, Ryanair or BA?
