So, after 2 years of service the cord on my iBook G4's power adapter has gone & frayed itself to death.
Since I'm not in the mood to spend 79-96 euro on one, I'm thinking this model by Macally -- except it's for 100V!

    Where can I get similar?
    Thoughts?

    *edit* oh, it's 100-240V, saved!

Hmmm. According to the spec sheet, it will accept input in the range 100~240V

Which means it should step down from either 100/110 @ 50 Hz (US) or 220/240 @ 60 Hz (IR) just like the genuine Apple power adapter.

For 40 dollars, I would take a punt ... you can always check the output with a multi-meter before you plug it into your iBook.

    Good luck. :)

Hmm... what about this one from PowerbookMedic? The sticker indicates that it too is 110-240V, 50-60Hz.

I'd say mine's not far off either. It's almost 4 years old!

*Update* Just ordered one from PowerbookMedic -- 36euro with Fedex Priority, so even if I get hit by VAT it's still HALF AS CHEAP as Mactivate! :D

I just bought one myself about two months ago. It works very well, generates significantly less heat, has longer and thicker cables and is somewhat more compact then the original adapter. The only thing I noticed is sometimes if the battery needs charging, the adapter is a bit noisy for ~30 minutes.

After reading about all the problems people have with their brand new Apple branded iBook adapters I can say this one was a very nice surprise.

    Go ahead, it's worth it.

    Before myself.
    From America!

Thank the gods my boss is off sick! :p
