What wireless router?

    Hi,

I've finally decided to try and get a wireless router and I'm not sure which one to get. PC world have an offer on for a Belkin G+ MIMO one on currently, I was thinking of getting this, I'm not sure if it'll do what I want.

I've tried out one a few years ago without much success, I was able to get it to work but due to the walls in my house I wasn't able to use it far from where it was located so I decided not to bother with it.

What I'm looking for is something capable of the following:

    Relatively decent connection speed.

Capable of transmitting for up to about 25m through thick walls (I live in an old farm house).

I'd like it to be compatible with the laptops currently in the house which have 802.11b/g cards.

Currently I'm just using the ADSL receiver I've had since I originally signed up for the broadband.

    Peter

I hate PC World but I know they sell these and sell them cheap (seen them in PC World blanch).

It's a Netgear has has 7 built in antennas for the maximum range...

Thanks, I found them on Komplett for €96, they look quite interesting.

I also found a few that are IEEE 802.11n - will my laptop which does IEEE 802.11b/g be able to take advantage of this? or will I need a new wireless card?

802.11n isn't really necessary yet and your laptop doesn't support it anyway.

802.11g is 54Mbps and 802.11n is about 100+Mbps. That's a good price I must say, go for it.

    Thanks for the advice.

Will try and order it next week, I'd like to try one out first, I might try and do that before ordering.
