I have been looking at a house that has an extension (single floor extension), but could do with removal of part of the downstaris wall to open it up into the extension. I believe this is possible, but does anyone know if it's a big job.

Unless I've mistaken what you mean, you are looking to remove part of the original external wall that is now between the extension and the house.

This isn't a very big job, an rsj is normally fitted to support the upper section of the wall and the lower section is removed.

Mellor, That's exactly what i'm asking - do you happen to have had this done and how many days did it take ? I'm looking to get a rough cost. Thanks

Smoggy, you should contact any local builder. It's not a difficult job and they have probably done it a lot. I can't give you an exact figure but it shouldn't be too expensive.

My dad had it done a few years ago, contact locals builders its a very common job.
As for time, i can't remember but i'd imagine a day to install and break out the out and another day to make good the finish.
