    What tax exemption?

Motor tax used to be 78 Euro and will be 9.5% higher at 85 euro now from February onwards.

    http://www.budget.gov.ie/2008/downloads/AnnexF.pdf

    Still very affordable

None of the relevant sites giving road tax rates have been updated since 2004, Only thing on the Dept of Enviroment site states "Existing cars will continue to be taxed on the current basis of engine size"
    Wait and see....
I'm sure it may increase your fleet costs a wee bit.

What about VRT on imported motorhomes once they start to calculate it vehicle emissions? Anyone any idea on how that will work?

So far, motorhomes have a special VRT rate of 13.5% of OMSP.
I haven't heard anything about that being changed.

The motorhome / light truck that emits less than 225g (top rate) CO2 is yet to be invented ...plus there are no CE statistics for CO2 emissions for motorhomes yet and I don't thinkl there ever will be, as every make/model would have different values and testing is very expensive.

Also, from a "green" point of view, motorhomes don't get driven that often and have a far greener bottom line than the whole family jetting off on holidays

Changes are afoot for ALL vehicles come July this year as global warming hits us in the pocket!!!

All evaluations will be based on the emissions of your vehicle irrespective of engine size although most campervans will fair better as diesel engined vehicles are supposedly less polluting than petrol.

However our Govt. can not afford to lose the millions they take in in VRT each year so don't expect any handouts as can be seen by the crafty way the vehicle licence fee was jacked up in the budget!!!!

So I would imagine it will be as you are for campers and a punch in the belly for 2-3litre gas guzzling babies, then again some campers have those 3litre engines so who knows???? but smaller will be a bit cheaper.

    .

So far I am not aware of plans for commercial vehicles, trucks or buses being taxed on CO2. so why should motorhomes be?

Got any sources to back this up?
