Possibly another reason why apartments might not hold their value in years to come. A locking system that isn't designed to last beyond the first shower of rain doesn't inspire too much confidence.

Are you certain the lock was designed and built in Ireland by an Irish company and purchased through an Irish reseller? Also, that they don't sell the lock outside of Ireland?

Because if not then probably not Only in Ireland!

A civil servant puts the personal details of half the country's population into an envelope and posts it. It then gets lost in the post.

    Only in . . .

OK, a bit off topic but when that thing happened in England I couldn't help thinking that if it happened here we'd never hear the end of it.

Mind you, it doesn't mean we should accept stupidity and shoddy work just because it could happen somewhere else too.

Big thick brown envelopes don't get posted here, they're delivered in person.

If what happened in England happened here, you'd never get to know about, unless it popped up in a tribunal 20 years later

I keep forgetting the rest of the world is perfect and nothing ever goes wrong outside of Ireland.

I can't argue with that. It only took the civil service in England three weeks to 'fess up.

The thing about the civil servant and the lost info is this...if it happened here (and most likely has already) nobody would give a **** and they'd just send another, ah sure it'll turn up yet but here's another just in case!!!

:D I think that's the funniest part about the whole thing. That's exactly what the English civil servant did too!

Sorry, that was my mistake. Not to worry though. I don't know very many facts. :)
