Sorry if this has been covered before, just wondering if anyone here has had bad experiences of quinn. My renewal has come up and with them its more than 200 less. I've been advised by my usual place that it can't be bettered so before I buy it, is anyone here with quinn, or know of anyone who is?

The main difference is Quinn don't give you free breakdown.

I thought I heard that Q don't pay out if you have comprehensive if you don't have an official thatcham alarm installed, or maybe that was AON?

heard its very hard get money out of them when you claim. And ALL modifications have to be declared or your policy will be void.

Was with CN for the last few years but bought a 954 blade there this year and CN wanted €1600 on it!! Got fully comp with Quinn for €450:D

    A few problems
Unlike every other insurance company(taking one phonecall) Quinn usually take 4 to get everything sorted.
They are very bad when it comes to anything ie. wantin to change ur insurance to another car (either charge u a load or not leave u at all).

Other than that they are alot cheaper than any1 else, (difference of nearly 1500 for me on the bike and 2300 on the car).

..well quoted one price, paid for it, all was well.

Then 3 months later rang up looking for an extra 100 - we dug in and said 'NO! -quote is a quote'.

I wonder if this is a deliberate thing, the 'ol bait'n'switch tactic?

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Cheaper than the competition for sure. However, they made countless mistakes in my monthly debits taking whatever they wanted month after month... Sometimes I'd pay €70, sometimes I'd pay €120. It became a freaking lottery!

Got it sorted in the end though. And hoping to God I won't have to claim for anything! EVER!

Watch them!! If you have to claim off a Quinn policy holder - get an independent accessor to check your car over before you get it back. I was unfortunate - their garage used poly fill on my car. I have the evidence of the botch job that was done! Now they say I have no comeback - becuase APPARENTLY I signed for it!!

If I did sign, it was under condition that the car was in pre crash condition.

So, be very very careful, them seem all nicey nicey when they're coughing up the cash, but check the workmanship.

In my case I believe it is also the garage's fault for not informing me that the Quinn assessor was not replacing parts he should have been. But then again, the garage does what the Quinn accessor will pay for!

only good thing about Quinn direct is the price. If you actually have to use their insurance in any way you are looking at a mess - personal experience. I will never deal with them again.

That's what everybody has told me... They're great right up until you need to use them for something...

Free recovery is something I would require in an insurance policy or at least take out cover with the AA or whatever.

I've heard the opposite about Quinn (sort of). My cousin was hit by a car insured by Quinn and they paid him within 10 days. Maybe they pay out to all 3rd parties promptly but stall paying their own policyholders?

I was involved in an accident (my fault). They classed my car as a write-off. Took 3 months and endless hassle to get the money and they basically shafted me on the amount. I signed the car over to them.
Then about 6 months later I start get parking and non-display of tax fine notices as they had sold it on to a garage who fixed it up and put it back on the road but not cleared up the registration properly. Tried to get them to sort that out - they said that they would. I had moved on from that address but I found out that a few months after that a police detective was looking for me in relation to the car. Tried to get them to sort it out again - still not sure that it's done properly....

Ahem, I was a third party - they pay up alright and will get you to sign away their liability to you, without explaining what the implications are. Not an honest crowd at all. If you have no problems subsequently then your grand, but if you discover your car was repaired inadequately then you are snookered.

@Glasso - It is up to YOU as owner of a car to inform change of ownership and as you learned, it is in your interest to do it! It is NOT up to the next owner. All you have to do is fill out a form and submit it. Here is a link to the details. I suggest sending one of the forms in anyway .. to be safe.
