    Hi,
I'm just wondering, is there such a thing available that allows you to make any usb device wireless? As in, you plug a sender device into the male part of the device which transmits a signal to the female slot that with something plugged into it? So this would allow any self powered usb device to communicate with your laptop without a cable, be handy for printing to another room and everything.

I tried google but every result is for wireless keyboards, mouse and all that jazz.

You could hook your printer up to your wireless router, the printer would need a network card though I think. There is a wirelss usb standard being worked out at the moment. I haven't read much about it but here's the wiki page.

If that wasn't so pricey I'd get one. It would be handy having my externals and printer hooked up to it.

That's the kind of thing I was after. $399 is wayy too much, I'd pay $39 for it, even $49 would be too much!

The printer isn't the only thing I was looking to use it on and my printer doesn't have a network card I don't think, but yeah, connecting to external hard drives etc would be dead handy with that wireless thing. The usb cable on my mybook is a bit short and I've moved my laptop a few time which makes the HD slide or yank the cable out so this would be a handy solution. At $399 I'll kindly decline though.
