www.krav-maga-uk.com is the IKMF's offical UK and Ireland website where you can check for registered instructors in Ireland.
IKMF instructors must undergo annual training to keep their instructors liscence.

In Dublin..Aidan Carrol (as far as i know) is the only IKMF instructor still recognised.
    www.kravmaga.ie

Patrick Cumiskey was IKMF trained but you'll have to contact himself directly to see if he's kept up his IKMF liscence
    www.kravmagaireland.com

Theres also a Polish guy, Robert Bednarski..who i dont have details on..try googling him.

As an IKMF Krav Maga instructor myself i would always advise you to train with a registered/recognised instructor.

Be aware that a lot of what you hear about KM here on boards is highly critical of the system that is Krav Maga, so rather than be influenced by that, i'd advise your student to go along to the classes and base opinions on experience rather than hearsay.

Patrick used to offer a money back guarantee..i dont know if he still does.
Aidan im sure would offer a 1st class free...pm me the students details and i'll pass them on..

Alternatively..come up to Mayo and i'll guarantee them the first class free.

    People can decide therafter!

With the way my life has been with other things I haven't trained there for a few months, but to the best of my knowledge [99.9%] its a case of yes and yes. However to the OP with the expection of the Polish guy who I just never trained with [so can't comment on] all of the others are good options.

I think there is a program on Krav Maga on the History channel at 9.00 on Wednesday under the title Human Weapon - Krav Maga Of The Israeli Commandos: Israel is home to one of the deadliest combat systems in the world. Designed for the Defence Forces, Krav Maga is an anything goes fighting style.

Not a KM man meself, will give it a view.

Watched it myself and jesus was it interesting i wouldnt be into alot of martial arts for various reasons but i still respect them but this seemed such a practical form of defence and and looked very interesting. Is there much interest in KM in Ireland? And what do people think of it if they have done it?

Unfortunately some of the KM guys have a bad reputation for over charging for their training (I'm not saying they all do mind).

What type of prices were you quoted?

Was looking at aidan carrolls classes and for six lessons it is 150 euro and for a two day course with patrick cumiskey it is over 200 euro, as i said in a previous thread i heard they are good instructors but that is well over priced.

The lads charge whatever they need to charge to make a living. It must be very expensive to run a martial arts programme. You need to pay for equipment, rent, electricity, gas, insurance, a host of other things. You're typical boxing or jduo club is only a few euro a session because they are voluntary, the instructor by in large provides his services for free, the few euro pays for the room rental. Big MMA clubs are about 50-70 euro a month and they must have lots of people subscribing to make it worthwhile for the person running the gym full time. If you don't like the prices don't pay for it. You give me the impression you're all a bunch of lads that saw a documentary on martial arts on TV that almost promises you'll be Steven Segall in a few training sessions but you're not willing to even pay for the classes never mind put the training. If you're serious about training go train and stop moaning.

Well i know other lads who make a living out off it and the prices are half what they are charging, i think that these lads are taking advantage of the fact that there are not many KM instructors in dublin.

Interest in KM in Ireland is increasing all the time, though if we're being honest about it the standard is still a bit behind the UK and particularly Central Europe. IMO it's the best form of self defence training one can do.
For anyone keen on training/giving it a try, i'd particularly recommend going to an IKMF Global Instructor seminar in Feb sometime, dates and venues to be confirmed but likely to be one in Mayo and one in Dublin.
On that episode of "Human Weapon" i recognised 2 from the Global team, Zev Cohen and Tamir Gilad (And of course Eyal Yanilow). They may be the instructor but it will most likely be Amnon Darsa who generally covers UK and Ireland.

I pay 75,00 monthly. Intermediate group training is going two times a week. So it is 8 or 9 trainings monthly. But anybody from intermediate and advanced group can evertime turn up to beginners group classes. So, if I'd like to remind some basic techniques, I can attend KM 12 or 13 times monthly, and thats still the same price!
I dont now nothig about beginner group payment.
A lot of people is coming to Roberts class beacuse that is sensational price and good servise
    P.S.
I've "created" :-) the movie from our classes. Sorry for low quality but I was using cheap digital camera.
