    hey all,
looking at picking up a sony 46" lcd tv.
would it be of any advantage for me to hop over the border to pick it up ??
i would prefer a brick and mortar shop for such a large purchase.

    thanks in advance

It would if you can live without a VHF tuner, i.e. you only watch sky or have ntl digital box, then you'll be fine, for terrestrial and analog cable you could be in trouble.

I've bought a 42" plasma from Belfast, and even with shipping costs I'm saving over €300 yoyos on the same model (without the VHF tuner) than down here.

IMHO you could save even more if you went up and collected yourself ;)

The Sony BRAVIA's sold in the UK are identical to those sold in Ireland so if you do buy one in Northern Ireland it will have a VHF tuner.

I'm not sure if there is any money saving to be had though.

there seems to be quite a bit if you buy from an internet site and then arrange collection yourself , moreso in the u.k. though than up north. i think the retails have copped on to the border jumping.
apparently if i head o larne it'll pay off.
a few phone calls tomorrow and i'll let ye know how i get on.
