    He everyone!
I've settled on a beetle in the UK.
I've contacted Johnny Flynn in Carlow to arrange transportation. (I don't fancy driving from Kent to Hollyhead. My last experience was tough going). The only problem I have is finding a way of paying for the car without going over. He won't release the car without payment which is fair and I won't pay unless I get the car which is also fair. The guy also won't accept anything other than cash. My options so far:
    1. Johnny Flynn will bring the money over...risky carrying a few grand cash around in a truck!
    2. I could use paypal (immediate transfer) once the car is loaded...but the fees are very high!
    3. I could use Escrow...but money won't be transferred quick enough (the seller won't let the car go until he has cash in hand.
I know the safest way would be to drive the car home but it's really not something I want to do.

Does anyone have any suggestons. Thanks!

Have you seen the car? I would never, ever, buy a car sight unseen. Just my 2c.

I've done it a couple of times - as long as you know the right questions to ask, ask enough of them and see enough pictures of the different parts of the car I reckon you can do pretty well. I'd take your point that it is a bigger risk though!

I'd ask Flynn, he's bound to have been asked about this before so will have a well reasoned answer.

    Mike.

I bought a car on ebay, paid at end of auction by Paypal (didn't cost me anything). I paid Paypal using my credit card.

Later I flew over to the UK met the seller, then drove to Liverpool ferry port

If there had been a prob with the car and the seller wouldn't refund me then I would have opened a dispute with Paypal (wouldn't have been optimistic about the result, been there before and it takes ages)

If I didn't get satisfaction from paypal I would initiate a chargeback through the credit card (also done this, it's very simple)

If I wasn't happy with the car I wouldn't have driven it back to Ireland.
Then I could tell Paypal or credit card Co. that the sale never happend.

If you (or Johnny Flynn) take the car home it would be much harder to back out of the deal.

Hope it works out for you
