    Hi

My Dad is looking for a 40" Television and he was all set to go for the Samsung 40" M87 one but I have just read some terrible reviews.

I was wondering if anyone had bought any decent 40" TV's or knew of any that were of high quality.

    Thanks

The Sony 40KDLD3000 is supposed to be very good - HD Ready rather than full HD, but accepts a 1080P feed. Much more forgiving of SD material than many - 100Hz, Sony's best quality 'Motion Flow' picture post-processing.

It's no longer being made, but there's a few floating about still - Peats certainly have one in their showroom, and I think I saw one in the Sony shop on O'Connell street. I've been thinking about getting the 32" version.

I was going to get the Samsung but saw the new Sony KDL-40V3000 in the shop and went for that instead. Picture is fantastic (sky+ at the moment - waiting on Sky HD).

Does it actually matter if a hd ready tv can accept 1080p???I'm guessing that it just downgrades it to 720p so does it actually make a difference at all???

i looked round 5 tv shops, the best 42inch tv, i, have seen is the hitachi 42inch, plasma, in powercity,vga,2 hdmi,2av,composite,rca,hd connector for 360/ps3 .ITS got superb picture, deep blacks, great contrast ratio, 1080i,does pc res 800/600 upto 1280resolutions.1080i.720p.hdready.price 850euros. the cheapest 1080 p tv i,ve seen is the lg42plasma 1270 approx, harvey norman.MY friend got the hitachi, the picture is fantastic, especially on pal tv,ntl, sky digibox.its the best most subtle color reproduction i,ve seen on a hd plasma tv, way better than a 3grand lcd.
i dont have model no.look at powercity.ie for specs ,they give online discount, 50euro,and you still have to collect the tv.
the whole case is made of steel,no cheap plastic,it has security brackets at rear, large speakers ,sound quality is great.BY THE way 1080i is fine for 90per cent of people, unless hes watching sky tv skymovies in hd ,its unlikely he COULD see any difference tween 1080i,or 1080p.
IF SKY MOVIES is broadcast in hd it wont be downgraded, i dont know is sky hd 720p,or 1080 p, if its 720p tv will display 720p ,i,m assuming he has a SKY HD digibox, otherwise it will just display standard pal signal.

I got it at SoundStore (Sarsfield Road). They had a big sale on for the weekend (seems to be still going according to the ad I heard on the radio) and it was way cheaper than the Sony Centre.
