I've just realized if you switch your language setting from uk to us you get the new version of gmail, it's pretty nice with a new contacts organizer, integrated aol chat (aim) and colour coded tags!

This is probably better suited to Computers/Tech than Webmaster.

But its very tempermental, i've using it for about two months, and regularly have to switch back to the "old" one.

Pressing the reply button doesn't always open the reply box, and most email that i get with attachments never come out of the "running virus scan" stage, so the download button never appears

    Anybody else?

Yes, I usually switch back to the old version. My main gripe has been that it doesn't always report new mail in the "new" version and have similarly found it to be a bit more flakey than the older version.

Trying it out at the moment ... had to disable firebug as it just seems to hate it even disabling the XMLHttp requests and the Network monitoring it was still crashing thank god you can just disable firebug per domain

Don't care a whole lot for the new version but having IMPA wins, works really well in iMail because it even threads the messages,

Cabaal - I don't usually use a Mac anyway, but does iMail include your own replies in the threaded view?

I've been using IMAP since they introduced it to GMail and it's great, but I do miss the threaded view. Would love to find a mail app with that same functionality (most seem to have a 'threaded' option, but none that I've tried come close to being as nice as GMail itself.. main gripe bing that my own messages aren't included, so the flow is totally disrupted).

Yeah same here, as it doesnt do a lot for some add-ons as i use Better Gmail as its a nifty app. as it combines a lot of scripts together.
More can be explained here as well, with reference to the new Gmail as well.
