Whats the quickest way to do this?

I have lots and need space on my PC.
Its all organised into folders and i know that the PS3 has certain folder criteria.
I know how to copy by file by plugging in my external hard drive.
But that will take me till next christmas.

    CAn you copy by folder?

    Thanks
    Ed

I tried to search but "Music" and "PS3" got more than a few hits

if you knew the way the files were stored your could take the hd out of the ps3 and put it in your compter and transfer files then.otherwise you could use a router to send the files from computer to ps3 if they are on the same network.

    someone should sticky this info.

anyway the PS3 looks for things in preset directories ie PS3/MUSIC PS3/UPDATES (as far as I remember them)

If you have a memroy stick/ drive etc, when you select it from the music section in xbar press that there wee triangle thangie and select 'Display all'. The heavens open, the angels sing and your music collection is there in all its glory.

    Thanks Rev Hellfire,

Thats what i am doing currently alright, it is good.

I will try the network idea alright, might be the handiest rather than file by file from the PC.

    Blay 1,
That also sounds like a viable option, thanks:D

Hold on i connected my ipod to my ps3 a few days ago and all my aac tracks came up as a four letter code e.g CHRS.My mp3s came out with their proper names.Anyone else notice this???And another thing why cant you play your music while playing games like the 360???????.Before i bought the ps3 i naturally assumed that the ps3 could do everything the 360 could and a lot more.Anyway when i copied the songs to my ps3 using a memory stick i noticed that the sound quality was fairly s**t.Anyone else have similar problems???

The audio quality of the ps3 is great, so it's def not a PS3 problem. Maybe it's down to the settings you used when encoding.

The short filenames are likely to be an iPod issue. Have you tried to just use the media server function on the PS3 and copy everything over your wifi/network. That way it will take care off allthe song names and all that for you. I guess it can copy folders although I havn't tried.

It could be just the cables.I connect my ps3 to my hd ready tv using the component cable(Strangely, my hd tv does'nt have hdmi). What exactly do you mean by media server function???

    Is there manuals for this?

I know how to do it and all but i have been talking to some people who also dont know how to do it...

Over the network seems to be the easiest option ....
I did connect my iPod nano and it didnt appear, seems to be apple issue though with my iPod. Other iPods work fine....
