I have yet to see most of Season 1, but have started watching Season 2 anyway in the meantime. Only watched 'The Damned Thing' And 'Family' so far, bit of a mixed bag. The Damned Thing was terrible, despite having a great cast, while Family was brilliant - gruesome and twisted. So a total reverse there in comparison to my expectations.

Any opinions on what the other episodes are like?

They are very very hit and miss IMO.
Some are good some are stinkers.
I thought cigarette burns was the best one.

Watched a few more. 'The V Word' - Passable, though the first half was much better then the second. 'Sounds like' - This was incredible! One of the eeriest things I've seen in a long time....Finally, 'Pro-Life', which despite some brilliant make up and special effects was a dreadful story...expected more from John Carpenter...:(

    Mixed bag describes it perfectly.

I have the first half of Season 1 on dvd - some excellent episodes, some leave a lot to be desired.

Just watched Argento's 'Pelts' last night, excellent stuff, definitely the most psychologically and visually gruesome one yet! Interestingly I looked up 'sounds like', and virtually every review paints it as a weak link of the series. I thought it was probably the best so far!

Must get Season 1 as well...

Watched 'The Screwfly Solution', definitely the most ambitious of them yet, good idea but let down by some hammy acting and in particular a really unappealing and bland ending.

Watched 'Valerie on the Stairs'....worst episode so far without a doubt, poor storyline, undeveloped to the extent that it hangs itself. Flimsy and bland characters, talent gone to criminal waste in the case of Christopher Lloyd. Unfortunately someone else watched it with me after I had been recommending Masters of Horror to them, and were less then impressed. Typical!

Hate when that happens. "It was a bad episode I swear!"

'Right To Die' - Excellent episode, right up there with 'Sounds Like' and 'Pelts'. Excellent make up effects and for once a character you somewhat empathize with, the more I think about it I think it was the best episode so far.

'We All Scream for Ice Cream' - Decent, nothing special but good enough that it didn't feel like a viewing wasted. Good acting kept a fairly obscure storyline going.
