    Chewing Gum

Right I have been low carbing for a while now and its a great way to trim a bit of bodyfat

Thing is I eat a lot of things that give me the worst breath ever, fish, cheese.mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Fish breath

So does sugar free gum induce an insulin spike because its sweet

The ingredients say 66 grams of carbs per 100 grams (Green Extra) So should I be staying away from sugar free chewing gum

I suppose the answer is yes and I should just bring a small bottle of mouthwash to work with me and use after all my meals at work.

    Any thoughts on this?

I know, I know its such a minor point but would still like opinions on it.

no, because it doesn't contain sugar. Artificial sweeteners have no influence on insulin.

each packet weighs a few grams, so unless you're eating multiple packets a day I wouldn't worry!!

Chewing sugarless gum can increase saliva production which keeping the acidity levels down in your mouth and can help to reduce the risk of tooth cavities. Just don't chew it all day, every day. I used to go through two packets of blue Extra a day when I was on my cut. As always, everything in moderation ;)

If you have serious keto breath, chances are you are not eating enough veggies. You can't do keto and not eat your greens. Chlorophyll is a great breath freshener.

Read the ingredients on your gum. A lot of them contain things like sorbital, which can give you the runs, and can also produce an insulin response. Non-nutritive sweeteners like saccarine or splenda should not affect insulin.

I'd suggest more. I normally recommend a green veg at every meal except PWO. On a low carb diet, there's so much you can't eat that you should really push the boat out on vegetables. There's lots you can eat raw as well.

Kohlrabi is low carb, and has a similar texture to an apple once you peel it. I love munching celery, as well as throwing it into the pan with anything I'm cooking, and rhubarb is technically a vegetable. Radishes are a handy (non-messy) nibble and baby sweetcorn is low carb.
