How benifical is it to learn other poker games ,I cant really see how it will affect your NL game as different rules apply and different strategies are used.I My NL cash game as improved greatly over the last few months (thanks to here and practice) ,but will learning other games help me improve more?
    If so what games?

No limit hold em is a somewhat amorphous game where there's a lot of ambiguity, and it can be difficult to recognise the deep structure of it. Playing limit games removes the obfuscating factor of bet sizes, so it can actually help crystalise in your mind the structure and dynamic of the game in its simple form. People get scared in NLHE because a huge bet can be sprung on you at any time and that can prevent them from playing the best lines.

For example you see much more clearly in limit games the importance of having the lead in a hand. Razz is the best example of that. In NLHE a lot of players play weakly if their continuation bet is called on a flop that they have missed, they get scared and shut down. Play limit hold em and you expect calls on the flop from weaker holdings and you fire again on the turn mostly. If all playing LHE did for your NL game was to give you greater confidence to fire off the 2nd bullet then you would have learnt something valuable.

Also experiencing limit games should rid you somewhat of the evil of slow playing premium hands.

And of course Omaha will teach you the subtle art of gambling degeneracy.
