Yet another TEFL Thread

    Hi,

I have been looking through some of the TEFL websites and threads here and while I have found a lot of useful information I have a few questions.

First off I have a BBS Degree but do not have any TEFL qualification - will this stand against me and would I be better off with one?

Secondly. Obviously it differs from place to place and school to school but what are the teaching practices and what is expected of TEFL teachers.

Thirdly. Because some of sites I have looked at say 25-30 hours work per week does this mean I can have a second job, well, continuing my work for a company in Ireland as freelancer.

Finally and most importantly most of the sites I have visited have 12 months contracts - while this may have been fine for me 6 months ago I would be looking for a shorter term contract (something like 1-3 or 6 month contract). Does anybody know of any places where there would be such length contracts. I do not have any qualms about where I would be placed, I have always fancied spending some time in Dubai but I can't seem to find any info about the UAE.

    Many Thanks.

Also if anyone here has done teaching TEFL abroad can you give me some tips or pointers.
