which scanner?

i want to get a flatbed that can scan negs, as it doesent make much sense finacially or storage wise for me to get a seperate neg and flatbed scanners.
im torn between the canon 8800f canoscan and the epson perfection V500 photo.
if you were me which one would you buy?

Forget about them if you want to scan 35mm only, they are ok-ish for 120 and bigger negs.
Personally I'm using Canon 9950F with silverfast for scanning 120 negs and it's not sharp as expected. Totally crap for dense, contrasty slides.

Remember that if you decide to buy flatbed one you will never get a chance to fully clean the glass or remove it. Consider good old dedicated neg scanner.
