Anyone play or played Starflight 1 or 2?

*No links to games please* LoGiE

I just started playing Starflight 2 and it's brilliant!
Great mix of RPG, Action, Adventure etc...

Just what I hoped Mass Effect would have been :(

I played the megadrive version (which is sort of like
SF2 with better graphics), Loved it , although you do have to spend a lot of time mining.

Are they anything like the great Star Control 2?
Thats a super sweet game, its on the 3DO and PC, I have the former and used to love playing it, nearly finished the bugger too, it's a huge game, nice music and cg movies integrated well, probably the best voice acting I've yet to hear in a videogame.

    Yes, I believe they are.
Starflight was heavier on the RPG side. whereas Star control 2 battles are more fun,
EG. You can recruit, train your starship staff in starflight not sure if Starcontrol 2 had this feature?

Nope, don't think so, the crew kinda acts like lives, or sheild energy, when the crew is all dead, the ship is lost.
Star Control was really all about the battles, in a sprite based Space War way, while Star Control 2 had a massive RPG mode, while the space battles played a massive part where you met up with hostile races, the banter leading up to an altercation were well written and sometimes funny, sometimes malevolent, depending on the race or the way you approached them in the preceding conversation, I can't recommend this game highly enough, the map was massive, only really navigable when you figured out hyperspace, plenty of worlds orbiting each star, at times like a sprite based Elite, mining materials from them lead to more resources for craft, allying youself with races expanded the craft roster, that process took the form of threats and one time masquerading as gods!

    Like I said, super stuff.
