TG4 are set to hold a Writer’s Workshop next Saturday 8th December for writers interested in penning a script for upcoming TG4 series ‘Seomra a Sé’.

‘Seomra a Sé’ will see four nights of live television drama air on TG4 in March 2008. Over the course of four nights, four scripts, all taking place in a hotel room (Seomra a Sé), will be broadcast live from Solas Studios in Connemara.

TG4 and Dearg films invited aspiring screenwriters to submit half-hour long scripts, in any genre, for ‘Seomra a Sé’, that could feasibly take place within the confines of a hotel, with four successful applicants being chosen by a panel.

To allow for those writers who take part to write the scripts with the benefit of having attended the workshop, the deadline for submission of scripts has been extended from December 14th to January 4th 2008.

The workshop will take place in Dublin on the 8th December in The James Joyce Centre. Tutors on hand include writer/director Barry Devlin (A Man of No Importance, Ballykissangel), playwright Peter Sheridan (Borstal Boy, Finders Keepers) and director Deirdre Friel (Ros na Run, Fair City). The various challenges presented by live television drama will be discussed and cogitated on.

There will be a prize of €2000 to those writers whose scripts are accepted and broadcast.

'Seomra a Sé' is part of the BCI Sound and Vision Scheme.
