I got the 128 this morning for the first time and made great time - Tonlagee Road to Tara St. Station in 25 minutes. I was less impressed when it took an excruciating 25 minutes to get from Tara St. to Kildare St. Sitting behind a van, a car and a car carrier in the bus lane really made me appreciate all the hard work going into operation freeflow!

Is the bus lane 24hrs .Am under the illusion that all city centre Bus lanes are.But maybe it was not 24hrs and they were using it "out of hours".
Having said that last wed ,the start of opertion no flow coming down Pearse St. from Shelbourne Park a car used the bus lane ALL THE DOWN TO THE TRINITY CAPITAL with the blessing of 2 "baby" Gardai and 2 Bike Gardai. This was just an ordinary Clio style car and not a vip!!!!!!!!!

Was there any Gardai insight? You dont say.

Is its the Gardai's fault some one was breaking the law?

Or do you expect a garda to be placed every 70 odd meters to prevent this kind of thing happening?

No gardai were present at that stretch of bus lane and bus lane enforcement duties seem to have been suspended in favour of placing them at junctions. Now is probably the safest time of the year to drive in bus lanes safe in the knowledge that as long as you're out before the junctions, you won't be caught - I saw several people do exactly this this morning.

To make matters worse, the slip lane from Burgh quay to D'olier St wasn't moving because a private bus (coming from the bridge) decided to stop with his front door beside the railings at Q Bar and his tail blocking the lane. The garda on point duty either didn't notice or didn't care.

there is a left filter lane after Q bar with lights. Was he waiting there?

Bus lane use is another law that isnt enforced all that much. To say its being ignored at this time of the year wouldnt be entirely accurate if its been ignored the rest of the year. Only in certain places occasionaly would you see Gardai keeping an eye on it.

He had pulled off the bridge and wanted to drop off passengers on D'Olier St. I presume the bus stop was full so he stopped in the middle of the junction to let people off, blocking the slip lane even after the bus stop ahead of him was clear. It's hard to describe without ascii art or resorting to mspaint and I won't be doing that on a Monday ;)

I do see occasional bus lane checks on the Swords and Malahide road bus lanes, perhaps 3-4 times a month during the morning rush hour. There haven't been any spot checks at all since freeflow started.

Free flow hasnt been here a week yet. Give it a while as it appears to me you are just rushing to blame the Gardai.

I couldn't agree more. This morning I saw a Guard leaning on a bollard looking at the ground, he was doing this for over 10 minutes (I had to go to work eventually) I saw a few traffic violations ignored over this time. Mark, how dare you insinuate Gardai do nothing during free flow. :D:D:D

I think they should consider running the 128 via Pearse Station.
