Hey. I'm on a Macbook at the mo and using my usb key I can transfer my college files from my pc and read them perfectly on the apple.. but I cant read any files I create on the macbook on my pc. Is there anyway to rectify this? Its a 2006 edition(macbook). If i got Office for mac would it fix the situation?

    Thanks!

Sounds like your USB key isn't formatted correctly. You need to format it as FAT32 in order for both Windows and OS X to be able to read and write to it. Plug in your USB, launch /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility, select your USB in the sidebar, click the 'Erase' tab, and in the 'Volume Format' drop down menu select 'MS-DOS File System' (which is in fact FAT32).

Note that this will erase all the files on your USB key, so back them up to your hard drive first.
