RDA Protein intake confusion

    Hi all,

I was looking at various sources on what is the recommended proportion of daily protein intake for someone trying to bulk up a bit, and I'm a little confused.

In the 'Diet and Nutrition' sticky, Jak recommends to try "2 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight." I'm about 6'4" and weigh about 90kg (a lamppost basically) and so that gives me about 400g! In a similar thread on the teamtest forum (protein sticky in the 'gaining weight' section), g'em says that something along the lines of 160g would probably be the max needed. This is similar to what was written on the back of a whey supplement I bought recently.

I appreciate that a certain amount of trial and error is probably needed to get a good feel for what works for me, but the differences between some of the proportions is quite large. I should add that I am very new to this ;)

I think that should be "2g per KG of bodyweight", giving around 180g.

No I think Jak wrote what he intended to do.

If you're really serious about bulking then 1.5-2g would be good. I know eevryone's gonna start saying how it's too much and it's unneccessary but that's what I'd do if I was in your position.

Make sure you're getting in enough total kcals as well. It's not just a case of eat loads of protein and you'll grow.

Oh and you need to be training your ass off too.
