Surround Sound Speakers for music around the house

    Hi,

    My audio/stereo setup at home is to play all music (MP3) through my laptop which is connected to an amp on a very low spec home stereo. I want the ability to play my music throughout the house, therefore needing to increase the number of speakers (as there is upstairs and downstairs). Wiring throughout the home is no issue and was wondering if something like this would work:

    I know this product is designed for tv/movies but would they work for audio only? Would I get the same amount of sound from each speaker? I know it wouldn't play at 5.1 but I am not after superb quality either. Or are these speakers only designed to be placed in the same room?

    I would also welcome any other low cost solutions
