Big players have vested interests in the business being legalised. Financier Dermot Desmond spent €5.5m on his Dublin-based Sporting Emporium -- a 13,000 square-feet premises that opened in 2005. It lures hundreds of late-night revellers with its promise of free drinks and potential lucky streaks. Punters there have been known to make big money -- as much as €100,000 in a night. Most, however, might spend a hundred or so during an evening.

Who has ever made €100,000 in an evening playing the 1-2 PLHE or 1-2 NLHE at the SE?

OK...outside of that evening. Heh. Is there a game going on that the smaller punters are unaware of?

No one, but there is another floor or 2 in the SE that has nothing to do with small stakes Poker you know?? Who's to say some whale has never won that kind of money on roulette or blackjack.

Although it probably is just over exaggerated crap like usual.

Such as Roulette? I don't think poker was mentioned in that article at all.

The guy known as "the pig farmer" form slane has been asked not to come back form nearly every club in the country including the sporting because the swings he creates are too big for most clubs to handle. from what i have heard he is well up a 6 figure amount from the place

He plays in the Fitz a lot, or used to at least.

The pig farmer hit the SE for a quarter of a million Euro in a few minutes recently in the high stakes section from what I was told.
