    Hi,
Im looking to get a DVD player/VHS for the parents for xmas.

I saw the one in Lidl for €100 and im currently checking on pixmania for any better offers they may have.

Thats probably about the price im willing to pay. So does anyone know of any good deals? Preferably with DivX/Xvid support. Dont really care bout the video, just so long as it plays/records videos. Im undecided on whether or not i want to get them one with a built in DVD recorder. I suppose if the price is right, then i'd get one, but its not required.

    Thanks.

If you are only interested in playing and recording for VHS why not just go for a DVD recorder without any VHS.

pixmania have a few at good price. Added link for one below which supports DivX and is around same price.

Recording to DVD is better as the DVDs are cheaper than the VHS tapes and better quality

hmmm, interesting idea. and i could probably buy them a loada DVD-R's and a few DVD-RW's coz they usually use the same tape over and over again. i'll hav another look for the combo and see. might just go with that idea tho.

Think you might be better off this way. Some good offers for DVD recorders with it coming up to Christmas so have a look around at some of them.

I was looking for a combo one with DVD recorder for my friend today and the cheapest one I saw was a LG one from Powercity in Fonthill for €199.

well the one in the link above was an LG one and its ~130 delivered.

i suppose the reason i was lookin to get the combo was because they hav some old VHS videos and i dont want to leave them without the ability to play them, and the current setup of a separate dvd and vcr is takin up way too much room!

Argos have got a few and the prices are fairly good.

If it was dvd player/vcr combi you can get one as low as €50.99

The recorder versions start at €200.99
