Hi all,

Just a question about those types of earrings that you gradually make bigger and theres a hole going thru them. I don't know what they are called. But anyways, I've seen some africans with huge ones in their ears.

If you took it out, would your earlobe shrink back to it's normal size?

It all depends,

Ive got a 6mm hole in one ear and an 8mm hole in the other ear..Im fairly certain if i took them out now, they'd shrink back to a normal ear piercing size.

If you go above that though...you more then likely will have a large hole in your ear. I know you can get corrective surgery to get them to close up again but whats the point in getting them done in the first place if you are worried about the after affects?

everyones different really it varies from person to person,im only chancing going to 8 maybe 10

Aye, I think i'll be stopping at 10 myself,
Not that I'm afraid of them not closing up, just don't think two ginormous holes on either side of my face would suit me.

Yeah. I let my earlobes shrink to 10mm from 12.7mm. It took the best part of 2 months to shrink down by just under 3mm, though I've heard it's quicker if you take the plugs out altogether.

Shrinking down from large sizes can also result in the ever interesting catarse effect.

my right lobe shrunk from 16mm down to 13mm over a weekend... my ear was in bits though all better now

why on gods name did you do it over 3 occasions? if it was because of lost jewlery, why did you not do something quicker than a week and a half.. but still you got some impressive ears.. ive got 24mm in both.. i havent taken them out much to see if they would close up, i just dont see the point.

there are a few ways to cheat.. but they are no hopers if you wanna heal them up... start streching and then scalpel them bigger... instant big ears..

when piercers tell you stretching up slowly is the best way to go, and ensure that you can return to a lower size, they mean it.

fair enough. In your opinion taking it slow is what? 1mm per month? tom brazda wrote that 1mm every 3 months is optimal, pretty well known piercer in canada

based on the fact that its a tribal thing to do.. how often would they strech them?

it took me 11 years to get from 1.6 to 22. I'm not suggesting that everyone go that slowly - there's no need, but that is probably why I can shrink down so much...

its taken me 7 odd years for my left ear and 3 or 4 for the right..

many people here bigger than 24mm?
im thinking about going bigger but i aint too sure.
