All depends on your personal choice really...
Although placement and type of tattoo will have a lot to do with it too

yeah i know its personal choice but i dunno theres something weird about getting a tattoo you cant really see properly unless its in a photo. but its equally odd to have everyone see a upside down image lol

i have some writing tattooed on the inside of my wrist, most tattoos that i've noticed in that area seem to be facing out and my tattooist assumed I wanted mine facing out too but I was very definite about having it facing in. obviously it does come down to whatever you want yourself, but i'm all about the facing in. my tattoos are for me, not for anyone else.

I have one on my back and one on my front, Love them both because of the symbolism of them.

Why dont you get someone to draw it on for you in a couple of places and then decide!!!

My wrist ones look the right way up to me. My artist originally put them on facing himself, but I wanted them to look upright when I looked down at them. After all, I got them for myself, not for anyone else.

My very religious friend got a cross tattooed on him so it was upright to him. He didn't realise until afterwards that it was inverted to everyone else.

    haha!^

i've two with writing on them, one on my hip and the writing is upside down to me, and one on the back of my neck which i can't generally see at all.. i've a small design on my wrist which is the right way up to me, though most people wouldn't know really, and my next one will be on my calf/ankle, and will be upside down to me (unless im sitting cross legged, i guess). I guess it's all up to the person and the designs in question really.

I've 2 on my back, one of which I can't really see even in the mirror due to it's position.

As for orientation of text I'm right handed, so I got/will be getting it all so that it's orientated that if I were lying down and someone was on the right hand side of me it'd appear the correct way to them. No idea where that logic got into my head from really, just makes sense to me...

Yes I think get them facing towards you, ive one on my wrist and its facing towards people and it takes the look away from it, but when I look at in a mirror it looks tons better, then again ive another one just above it and its facing people aswell and still looks good.
