Coil Tap Switch

    i got my new PRS SE Cutom in october, nut id like to add the extra dimension of a coil tap switch, would it be a big job to install?

    You could only add a coil tap switch if the humbucker is a 4-conductor type. I don't know whether the PRS is or not, you'd have to check. In any case, its very simple to do once you have the correct pickup. You can find wiring diagrams at seymourduncan.com and guitarelectronics.com if you're stuck.

    You can tap a pickup anywhere along the coil, depending on the desired effect. It does require some skill to do it without totalling the pickup though, so not something to try for your first mod.

    Humbuckers are really two coils, so they often come with a split between the two which people like to add switches to. Series/parallel coils are a common option, or else series and single coil.

    Stock humbuckers are often wired internally in series though, so you have to see if there are four wires or just two, as Joe Robot says. You could buy a replacement if you find it can't be split easily.

    why not use a push-pull pot and then
    you wont have to drill or mod your guitar body
