thanks bud there a great help
im new to mac so was a bit lost

i think i'll get leopard installed and that should solve it

    much appreiciated

leopard won't solve it.....you will still have to use one of the options 400Hz mentioned.

The MacOS is a fundamentally different OS to windows, so you can't just install an application and use it. It just doesn't work like that - it would be like putting an xbox game into a playstation and expecting it to work.

If there is a Mac version of the application, that is the best option, otherwise one of the mentioned solutions.

New to mac and a bit lost. Yeah i remember that feeling last year.

I have bootcamp. But i use parallels cause i only use windows 3 to 4 times a week and no more than 20 minutes on each occasion. Sometimes i could go two weeks without going to windows.
I do not like using bootcamp cause of the shutdown and and restarting, but bootcamp is excellent. I hate parallels, but i use it cause it is handy.

I upgraded to leopard (nearly two weeks now) and last night was my first time in parallels and i got a kernal ( don't ask about that). If i get a kernal again due to parallels i will delete it and use bootcamp anymore. Parallels is handy but messy. It tells me every time i go to windows taht the version of parallels i have is inconsistent with the version i have and i must upgrade. But when i click upgrade i have the latest version. END STORY, stick to bootcamp and you will need leopard for that. You are right.

iv just been looking at my mac and it has LeopardOS already installed but Boot Camp is nowhere to be found

when i look in Utilities (where its meant to be located) its not there

it says Boot CAmp should be there if Leopard is installed so i cant figure it out

Ok, click finder. It is in your dock.

Top left corner you will see Devices and you will see Macintosh HD ( note the hard drive symbol beside it) If there is a second hard drive symbol under it that looks the same, that is the bootcamp area. If not then you may have to set up bootcamp by going into the utilities folder in applications and print the installation and set up guide . then you will create a partition for windows. This will take at least an hour to set up.

You do know jose-fahartose that you must buy a copy of windows SP2 or Vista.

Anytime you want to change from Mac to windows you must shut down your computer, then turn it back on and hold down the alt key ( i think) and you will be given a choice of going to mac or windows.

If your hard drive partition is already set up ( which i doubt) then this is what you must do to get to bootcamp, shutdown and turn on and hold the alt key. Otherwise you have to set up the partition as mentioned above.

Yeah. that is what you have to do.

make sure you do this when you have an hour or two to spare cause it will take some time to do.

i think i have misread my problem

my problem is that "boot camp assistant" is not in the utilities folder.. therefore i cannot begin to install it.

have checked the installation disk that comes with the mac but i cant see it there either and i dont want to install it twice,
i think it should be there because everything else on Leopard seems to be there ie. stacks, spaces..

Jesus, my boot camp assistant is there.

I wonder if you go to your desktop. click the macintosh Hd icon on the desktop and try and find it from there.

Once my applications folder ( in tiger) vanished into thin air. I was sweating bullets. " what am i going to do without my apps" i said. Then i clicked the HD icon on the desktop and found my applications folder and all was well again.

I got a Macbook this week too but and found Bootcamp Assistant not installed by default.

This link will help you get Bootcamp Assistant installed so you can get Windows up and running on your machine.

Not sure about soundforge or fruityloops but Reason runs on Mac.

Ya, but he probably doesn't want to spend more money on new software to replace something he is happy with. Use bootcamp. It's free apart from having to buy the Windows OS. Make sure you run AV software in the windows partition.
