    Hi,
When selling something on ebay do they take a certain percentage of your sale or do you just pay to list the ad.

They charge you for placing the ad, plus extras if you want a lot of pictures, top of page listing, small photo beside your listing, when you sell they charge a % of selling price. But you do get to sell your item to a huge market.

Also the lower your price start bid the better chance Your item has of attracting buyers .

Also, if you offer payment by Paypal then they will also take a % of the sale price (if the buyer pays this way of course). Both eBay and Paypal do not take a % of the P&P charges, so you often see inflated costs here. Do be sure to cover yourself for post and packing anyway, not just the cost of the stamps.

    What % do they take?

I've no idea what the charges are. Could be lists in their respective help pages.

Actually paypal will take 3.5% of the postage receipt as well. They take 3.5% of all received fees. The rates are variable with a merchant account though (between 1.9 and 3.5 depending on volume)
