We rented a old house before we got married. 2 old batchelors used to live in the house, im pretty sure both died and were waked there too. I'm from that particular village, and i never knew them so they must have died over 30yrs ago.

Anyhow, I would be very "open" to all things of a spirit nature and almost the miniute i walked into the house i just knew i was never alone if you know what i mean.

Loads of stuff went on but one particular incident comes to mind. Every night we would go to bed i would close all the doors inside the house, habit passed on from my father. It was terribly stormy outside that day so inside the back door was the bucket of ashes as it was too bad to go outside. Placed nice and snugly in the corner not in the middle of the floor i might add. Some time in the early hours we heard a loud band and half asleep turned over and put it down to the wind outside.

Next morning found the bucket up turned (fully!) with ashes all over the place and no footprints in sight. I just know the "boys" as i referred to them were having a laugh, or they were sick that i hadint put the ashes out. No bad feelings from them at all, just didint want to leave the house. There was no one else with a key apart from the owner, who never came near the place, and bf was beside me, so can't reason who else it colud be without leaving foot print..full bucket of ashes upturned goes everywhere!

We stayed over 2 years, and the person that moved in after us had 2 children. After a few weeks this woman approached me (single mom) worried out of her wits about the "things that were going on" in the house.... had i seen anything???...Her children actually used to see them sitting on the bed! I told her not to worry that they were harmless and most likely just fascinated at kids! Long story but she got the priest who done some prayer thingy there and they didint here anything from them after that afaik.

There's gotta be ghosts knocking round in Connaught - after all, it's probably the most 'rural' like province we have...I'd say t'wouldn't take much research to uncover a wealter of sightings and paranormal activity across the Shannon

Nice story - I realise it twas a mispelling but when you stated that you heard a loud 'band' playing in the wee small hours I thought for a second that you were going to say you came down stairs to find 'Foster and Allen' playing in your back kitchen - that would have been unfathomably scary...As it is though it brought me back to a time ten years ago when myself and 4 other guys shared a house in Maynooth(while attending College) - all sorts of unexplained knockings and footsteps would occur from dawn til dusk and we never got round to discovering the history of the place - At least you had something to go on - and you seemed to take it all in your stride;A hardy Soul

:D Kives," loud band" obviously right with the spelling error, but the whole Foster and Allen thing made me laugh so loud i think i wil leave it be.

they were frightening on top of the pops in broad daylight, imagine d 2 of them dressed like leprechauns singin in ur kitchen haa, "always beware, and keep your gardens faiiiiaaurrr". Hubby reckons that was a reference to our womans patch, so to speak
