HRV and Heating combined

I have read in a few different places about combining a heating system with a Heat Recovery Ventilation System to deliver extra heat when needed in an energy efficient house.
Something like using an oil,gas or WPB boiler to heat the incoming air along with the heat recovered by the HRV.
I would be interested in this idea as it would cut down on the capital cost of laying pipes etc for a conventional heating system.
I'm hoping to build an airtight energy efficient house but wont be able to reach passive standards because its a dormer bungalow with plenty of velux windows.
    Has anyone seen this done?
Would it be expensive to set up?
    Thanks
