Can anyone tell me what Adamstown Train Station is like during the morning peak hours? i.e. overcrowded trains etc? And then on the flip side, is Heuston Station crazy in the evenings? Can public transport commuters from Lucan heading for the city centre please tell me what the best options are for getting to the Pearse Street / Ringsend area?

    Many thanks!

Adamstown is never busy when I pass through after 7 in the morning. The car park there is also empty most days. Heuston is mad evryday, its great fun! Its grand as long as your train is there on time. Think your train would leave from platform 1 you could get an intercity service also I think. Check with IE.

woohoo! i thought adamstowns unique selling point was it had a railway line and other such amenities, does this mean its not being used as much as expected or have many moved in yet?

Most of Adamstown is still a building site, I believe one or two areas have been completed and are starting to be occupied.

i'm not overly surprised that Adamstown itself is not busy, but what about the trains that pass through? - are they full? would i get a seat? how long does it typically take to get into Heuston? When I have got there, am I right in assuming that I would need to catch the Luas and then a DART to get to the Pearse St / Ringsend area? Can anyone tell me what the Luas is like at the Heuston stop in the mornings? crazy i bet....

    when i then finally

furthermore, I have been looking at the Adamstown Station timetable. Its seems pretty good in the morning - 3 trains to choose from 07.04, 07.29 and 07.59 - all taking approx 15 - 20 mins which is good. However I am concerned about the evening timetable. The only suitable trains in terms of departure times that stop at Adamstown depart Heuston at 18.05 and 18.50 - to me this is a pretty poor service.....can users of this line comment on this?

Can anyone tell me what the Dublin Bus and Circleline bus routes are like?

    cheers

I suspect Dublin Bus may be a better option to you.

151 departs Adamstown every 10 minutes peak service and will leave you at Jurys Custom House Quay; you can hop onto a 3/50/56A/77 bus to Ringsend if you need to get a little nearer the village itself. The 151 runs virtually all of it's trip on a 12 hour bus lane so it's pretty nippy.

I can't speak of Circleline but assuming they are in service, I don't believe they are offering as regular a service as Dublin Bus are.

you should look at the possability of getting a bus to leixlip louisa bridge station (66s). a few morning Trains from leixlip/maynooth run straight to pearse station, thats near the junction of pearse street/westland row

thanks for that thomas. if i was to go with this option, I would be driving from home to the station as I'm a good distance from Lucan village (where the 66 bus passes through). what are the parking possibilities (preferably for free!) for me in the Leixlip area?. Is this station and the trains very busy in the mornings?

Hi PGL i'm not 100% sure about the car parking but there are two stations, leixlip confey and leixlip louisa bridge. leixlip louisa bridge has a small free parking area but has also opened a large pay parking area as well. leixlip confey i thik has a fairly big car park (free)i think as well.

Trains are always jammers in the morning there are a fair mix that go to connolly, go to pearse and theres one that goes to bray that stops in grand canal dock which is near ringsend. The one advantage of getting on at leixlip is you have a chance of getting a seat.

Sorry i can't be of more help. pity the 66s don't go near you it would be ideal situation.

Adamstown itself is very quite, but forget about getting a seat on the train. I travel from sallins everyday and the trains are always jammed before they even get here. Add the people getting on in celbridge and there are no seats for anyone in adamstown.
On top of this the geniuses in irishrail have decided to run a train less in the mornings so from december 10th the problems will be even worse.
Also your 7.59 train will very very rarely be in adamstown before 8.09 and then you need to add on anywhere between 3-8 minutes that the train parks just outside heuston a lot of mornings too.
