OMG! That wasn't meant to broadcast on UPC! Fair play. The launch is Thursday! Being managed by ITN, so expect it to be GOOD!

no i'd say you would have to subscribe to the Setanta Sports pack to get it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,189 ✭✭✭boomerang

AFAIK it's going to be part of the basic digital subscription, same as Setanta Ireland and Sky Sports News. There are also more channels promised for Chorus digital MMDS this side of Christmas! :)

Would love some extra channels from UPC as a christmas present. At least all the UKTV channels, well anything! Please!

Brillant, im getting rid of Sky Sports in the next week so to still have ssn is a bonus, and Setanta is a very good alternative and cheaper.

Officially went live today on the service today and is available to all Chorus/ntl digital subscribers as part of their standard subscription. :D

Dreadful graphics on the channel. The fast scrolling yellow/black text looks poor on an LCD tv.

Bloomberg (well, prior to its recent revamp) for sports fans. Way too much going on, there are permanent tickers/graphics on three of the four sides of the screen. They really need to have a rethink about how its laid out.

Agree. I think I've gone blind.

I'm defo alone, but I think the layout is fantasic! Alot of information well presented. I dont like the new bloomberg at all, the floating time box to the top right. Doesn't fit.

I like the Setanta layout alot. Loads of info quickly, thats the way I like it.

It's a total Sly Sports News rip off tbh. They put their bars on the opposite side of Slys and it just doesn't work for me.The paltry piece of the screen left for viewing, borders on postage stamp size.. hate it!

Its an ok channel. To call it similar to Sky Sports news is a bit of an under - statement. Im more interested in the suggestion that we might be getting other new channels? In fairness w already have two news and two sports news channels.

A small bit of variety please

I do like my news and the more news channels the better. I'd love to hear the news 24/7 from Al Jazeeza English or France 24. Thats variety. Whats the other sports news channel? We only had Sky Sports News before?

Plenty of news on Satellite, all Free To Air (no Sky box or sub):
BBC World, Al Jazzera, DW TV, Nile Tv, Arriang TV, France 24, Sky News, BBC News24, Cnn, CNBC, Bloomberg.
Short english on Turkish TRTint, Japanese JSTV, Israeli Arabic Ch33.
Plus most of the International SW Radio services and WRN on satellite.

Cable is for a more Generic Local Market.

Yes i said im interested in other new channels "coming before christmas" as someone posted above. We already have two sports news channels Sky and setanta. And i think we have enough news channels. RTE and TV3 do me on that front. Paramount all day would be great. Not just from 7 pm. A few more discovery channels or that dave channel. New music channels.

All of this is on the digital pack. It is unlikely to see new channels on analogue.

There is digital MMDS. Not certain of the line up but I am near certain Paramount is a full channel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,417 ✭✭✭✭watty

All NTL areas 100% digital 100+ channels MMDS
Chorus areas most 66Ch Digital + Analogue. Analogue was supposed to be gone by end of year allowing same channel lineup as NTL areas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,283 ✭✭✭Deedsie

Well i have chorus Digital in an MMDS area, and i can assure you Paramount only comes on at 7pm. Would be understandable if some offers were given to old MMDS chorus customers. Will the DVR or EPG ever be available in MMDS areas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,956 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

There are now 84 Digital channels on MMDS in Cork county .
New additions are Paramount 2,Discovery Turbo,Discovery Knowledge,Setanta Sports News,Travel and Living and about 6 extra new music channels.
Only 6 analogue channels onstream now.

Is it only County Cork who recieved these new channels? North Tipperary doesnt have anything so far. Shocker.
