I was at a wedding there last weekend, it's fantastic. Is it your wedding or someone else's?

I have been looking at this place on the net for over a year now and I have to say it looks amazing! I would be really interested to hear how a wedding goes also. The only negative thing for me was the fact that "Children" are not welcome at this venue at any time. But that is a personal choice. The grounds, the drawing room and the grand hall look amazing. A real fairytale could happen here, well thats the impression I get anyway. And the fact that there is so much scope to arrange a non traditional meal, bar and reception makes it all the better.

I would also love to know how you get on. Hope you enjoy it anyway:)

Was at wedding in Cloghan Castle last month, it is one of the most surreal venues I think I've ever been in, has these mad windy old style staircases up to the top of the tower and the whole place has a very unique vibe to it indeed.

Don't expect all the usual luxury facilities of a normal hotel, you're out on your own! Great place though.

Yeah as Savman says it's pretty unique. Completely refurbished, very comfortable, not at all cold as you might expect. There's a small bar just at the entrance, then a fairly large reception room for the meal which took about 120 comfortably. We had a DJ and an Elvis impersonator and there was a really good PA system but I'm not sure if that comes with the Castle or whether you have to hire it yourself. Upstairs there's another kind of function room where you can hang around while they clear the reception room. I think there was around 7 bedrooms which were pretty decent size. Tons of parking. There was a wee church about 10 minutes up the road into Gort which was perfect for the actual ceremony. In Gort itself there's a hotel called the Lady Gregory which was grand (€130 for a double) and is about 15 minutes drive from the castle. I'm not sure about the catering as I wasn't involved in the arrangments but I expect you can bring in whoever you want. Also there were plenty of kids so don't think there's a rule against it. My friends paid €5,000 to have the run of the place for 2 days, so it's not cheap but then I expect you'd be paying somewhere near that for a hotel.
